At the Kirk - having a piper lead the bride up the Aisle to begin the ceremony and leading the newly married couple out of the Kirk is a most moving and the most common way to give that Celtic flavour. The piper can also play during the signing of the register. You may prefer that the piper plays up to the entrance of the church when the Organist takes over.
Sometimes after taking the vows the Groom pins a small tartan ribbon of his Clan onto the Brides dress to symbolize the joining of the Clan. The piper would be given a 'wee dram' in appreciation of his efforts ( although he may prefer cash ) |
