Here are some of the traditions associated with a Scottish Wedding. You might like to purchase the excellent Scottish Weddings book by Gordon J. Mooney as well to give you a comprehensive read on the subject.

Dress - see our DRESS section for more detail on the options open to you. A universal custom is the 'something old' 'something new' 'something borrowed' 'something blue' - of course the 'something new' can be the Brides dress! And don't forget the 'something new' at your wedding can become the 'something old' or something borrowed' at the next generations weddings. The Bride usually wears a blue ( symbolizing love ) garter which plays a part later at the Wedding reception. It was also traditional for the bride to put a small silver coin in her shoe to bring her good luck.
