The House of Tartan Wedding Arisaid is based on the traditional dress worn by highlander ladies up until the 18C. In those days it would have been made in heavy wool twill and worn as an overgarment to keep out the cold. The House of Tartan has adapted this to provide a lightweight garment made in the finest silk to give your wedding a unique touch and affirm your Scottish heritage. |

The Arisaid is basically an 'oblong' of cloth 30 inches wide, gathered at the waist and tied with a traditional cord belt. The remaining cloth is brought over the shoulders and around the neck. It is then 'pinned' with a Clan brooch as shown to the dress. The 'hang' is determined by experiment.
